Town Approves Move!
At its September 3 meeting, the Garner Town Council approved rezoning and moving the Historic Garner Depot to a new site at the intersection of Pearl and Main Streets in Historic Downtown Garner.  Target date for the move is prior to the end of 2019, at which time the Depot will be placed on a permanent foundation, then repaired. The caboose will also be moved to this site and placed on rails. Thanks to the Garner Town Council and Town Staff for their support and attention to this move.
Major Artifact Donation
The Garner Area Historical Society is excited and grateful for a recent donation to our future Depot Museum. The donation comes from the Hudson family, who have owned Dr. J. S. Buffaloe's former office building on Main Street for several years. Dr. Buffaloe, who served Garner for many decades in the early part of the 1900's, was the epitome of "the hometown doctor." He maintained his office on Main Street and made house calls by horse and buggy before automobiles became prevalent. The Hudson family had been caretakers of Dr. Buffaloe's beautiful, large (and heavy!) medical office cabinet, and have donated it to the Garner Area Historical Society. Thanks also to David Ball, the current property owner for his assistance. We very much appreciate the professional movers, Two Men and a Truck, who took great care in moving this gorgeous piece. It will be safely stored until the Museum is open.
