Fundraising Campaign

The Garner Area Historical Society expresses our sincere gratitude for the generous donations, membership dues, bricks sales and overall support from the community that helped us create the Garner History Museum at the Depot. Thanks to the Town of Garner for relocating the circa 1900 Depot and caboose to our home at Main and Pearl Streets, next to the 1950's Garner Fire Station Building.

The Garner History Museum at the Depot held a private event on November 18 and opened its doors to the public on November 20 beginning with a ribbon cutting by the Chamber Commerce. During those events, more than 100 people attended.

We would love to have your continued support to help operate the museum, provide rotating exhibits, downtown walking tours, museum tours and special events at the museum. Donations are tax-deductible with several ways to contribute:

Donations: You may send checks made payable to the Garner Area Historical Society to P.O. Box 156, Garner, NC, 27529, or contribute by credit card. Click here

Donations of $500 or more will receive this beautiful print of the Depot and Caboose by Billy Farmer, a local Wake County artist (approximately 15"x 22", unframed). This print was generously commissioned by a GAHS Board Member.

Caboose Renovation Donation: Garner's red caboose has become quite a landmark in the historic area of downtown Garner, drawing much attention and attracting visitors to the Museum. We get questions on a regular basis about when it might be open for visitors. We're now ready to begin active fundraising of the $15,000 needed to restore the caboose to its authentic state as it appeared when it was a working railcar. To donate: Click here

Become a Member: We invite you to join the Garner Area Historical Society and our efforts to preserve and share the history of Garner and surrounding areas. Whether your family Garner roots are deep in Garner, or you are a recent arrival ... whether you live in the area now or are many miles away ... you have reason to care about Garner's long and exciting history. Help us save and share it by becoming a member! Click here

Brick Sales: This area of remembrance allows brick donations to honor or remember anyone contributing to Garner's history, a family member, a friend or any one special to you. Proceeds from the sale of bricks will provide much needed funding for interior improvements and furnishings for the Garner History Museum at the Depot. Click here
